In 1921 residents of the Sandalwood community came together at a public meeting and decided to build a hall. The Sandalwood Recreation Association Inc. was established October 4, 1923 with the purpose to acquire land and “to erect and maintain thereon a Hall”. During its’ 92 years the hall has been used for meetings, dances, social functions, balls, as well as several weddings. The Sandalwood Christmas Tree has been running for decades at the hall, and is still a source of delight for children to this day. In 1973 the Hall hosted “Back to Sandalwood” celebrating 50 years of the Sandalwood Hall. In 2012 it hosted the “Sandalwood Centenary” celebrating 100 years of settlement in the district.
