About the hall
For almost 20 years, the Meningie Town Hall has been home to Coorong Cottage Industries, a community cooperative that aims to promote traditional art, crafts and produce.
The building now known as ‘The Chambers’ began its life way back in 1889 as the Town Hall and Meningie Council Chambers. If the walls could talk you would hear stories of town meetings and school concerts, Saturday night dances and picture shows, weddings and court hearings, table tennis competitions and strawberry fetes. It housed library books and honour rolls dedicated to war heroes.
These days you can enjoy the well-kept gardens and beautifully restored building every day except Christmas day. You can be inspired by stunning quilts, delicious locally produced jams, pickles and baked goods, collectables and curios, timberwork and much more.
Meningie, with its population of approximately 900 is situated on the shore of Lake Albert and just a stone throw from the iconic Coorong National Park. Think lazy days fishing, sunsets over the water, bird watching and country hospitality…….
Event: Friday 18 November 2016, Twilight Tastings.
