Mollongghip Community Hall

About the Hall

Set among rich green paddocks in the 700 metre high, hidden valley of Mollongghip, the small wooden hall was built by farmers in 1903. Apart from a CFA shed, it’s the only community facility in this strung out hamlet. Owned and still managed by locals, the hall is much loved and retains its original character, despite being recently refurbished and a modest kitchen installed. The committee runs a series of events year round from a Progressive Dinner, which involves a walk to the top of surrounding hill, then back to the hall for dinner; a harvest festival; community feast and fund-raising auction; concerts and plays; and the Poetry Slam.
