EVENT DATE: Friday 11 November 2016
Backwards in High Heels is the ideal show to end the 2016 Café Culture Series. It is wonderful to welcome Kelly Auty and her band back to the stage in Lakes Entrance. Following confidently in the footsteps of her hugely successful “Wild Women Show”, this new show shines a spotlight on women who changed our world by way of their vast creative talents as songwriters, musicians, actors, artists, political/social activists, and trend-setters. There are many famous women whom we may have heard of, but may not know a lot about. Kelly skilfully interlaces interesting stories about their lives with her own impressive renditions of the songs. It is in this show that Kelly gets to showcase her versatility as a vocalist, she presents folk, blues, jazz, country, rock and soul effortlessly and with pitch perfection. Kelly highlights artists from the 1920s through to the 1980s from singers as diverse as Patsy Cline and Bette Midler to Odetta, Joni Mitchell and KD Lang to name a few.
