EVENT DATE: Saturday 7 November – Friday 13 November 2015
2015 has been an exciting year for Myall with three celebrations! Firstly we have celebrated 100 years of the “new” school which opened on Empire Day 24th May 1915. Over 500 students attended the school and many have contributed photos and stories relating to their school life at Myall.
We have also uncovered some inspirational stories about some of our district soldiers, planted a Lone pine tree in our Hall grounds and taken the McDonald buggy to the river where it travelled with the Myall picnic party on Easter Monday 1915 when the Murray river ran dry and the horses and buggies took the families over on to Campbell’s Island, and a distance of 2 miles to the Little Murray where they sat in the bed of the river to partake of the delicacies recalling the spirit of our pioneers in tough times 100 years ago.
During “Open House” week 7-13 November, groups and individuals are invited to join us at Myall to view the displays and join the conversation relating to the last 100 years at Myall. The Hall and Heritage Centre will be open daily from 2-4pm and for groups by appointment. Contact Marianne for further information.

ABOUT THE HALL:
Myall Hall is older than those in the surrounding localities. It has been the focal point for many community events, from regular dances and plays in days of old to the present where the dynamic hall committee keep it pumping and are especially attracted to events celebrating history. It houses the Honour Boards for the district and has many original features remaining in its architecture.
