ABOUT THE HALL:
The Laharum Hall is located in the Wartook region in the north-west Grampians. It is located north of Halls Gap, and south of Horsham. This area was seriously impacted by the 2014 Grampians complex fires.
The hall is just over 60 years old. It was built to reflect the growing needs of a community attracted to 40 acre blocks away from regional towns. The hall committee received donations from 14 local families totally 2000 pounds. The community and shire also secured an additional 1500 pounds towards building this asset. Land and labour were also donated.
The opening of the hall was celebrated in 1953 with a dance that went til 2 am to the music of local band – Nitschke’s Orchestra. The hall is a true community space, programming, refurbishment and up keep is managed by a small volunteer committee. The community is very proud of their hall and use the space for a whole range of social and civic activities
